Choloepus didactylus

About the Linne's Two-Toed Sloths

Linne’s two-toed sloths are covered in thick grey-brown fur and spend almost all their time hanging upside down from trees by their four long limbs. They have two toes on their front feet and three on their back feet, all of which have long hook like claws.

Habitat and Distribution

Linne’s two-toed sloths are found in tropical rainforests in northern South America.

Family Information

They usually live either on their own or in small groups. These sloths have one baby at a time. Did you know that sloths in the wild are facing serious threats to their future survival? Don't worry, you can help. Our conservation partner, The Sloth Conservation Foundation, are working tirelessly to save sloths from extinction in the wild as they face devastating urbanisation in Costa Rica. We raise money each year for SloCo through various fundraisers, and even went out to work alongside them in Costa Rica in 2023. If you want to get involved and support their mission to save the world's slowest mammal there's lots of ways you can: Donate any amount you can to one of their projects - we have various collection points around the zoo too!
