Drusillas Park Rides

The Go Safari! and The Rainforest Adventure rides, and The Rainforest Carousel have specific safety restrictions and there is signage at each ride detailing the restrictions, rules and advisory notes.

Please note the following:

  • Ride users must be above a certain height, be able to support themselves and have upper body control.
  • All rides have level access and standard wheelchairs can be taken through the queue lines and into the ride areas.
  • Operators will assist visitors in accessing the rides but will be unable to lift users into or out of the seats.
  • There is provision for one visitor in a wheelchair on the Rainforest Carousel. There is a ramp to access the turtle carriage.
  • All height, age and other safety restrictions also apply to visitors with disabilities and the operator must be satisfied that the rules are met before allowing anyone to ride.
  • The rides are not recommended for those with back or neck problems, heart conditions, high blood pressure or broken limbs.
  • Pregnant visitors are advised not to use the rides.
  • Safety is the primary concern and the operator has the right to refuse anyone from riding for safety reasons.

Safari Express Train

The Safari Express train ride is accessible for all. Visitors in wheelchairs are able to ride in the specially adapted carriage at the front of the train. The driver will assist visitors in wheelchairs to access this facility and there is a designated boarding area adjacent to the main queue line.

Please note the following:

  • The ramped section of the first carriage is designed specifically for visitors in wheelchairs. There is only limited space within this section for those accompanying.
  • Drivers will assist visitors in accessing the ride but will be unable to lift users into or out of the seats.
  • All users must remain seated at all times and not lean or reach out of the windows.
  • Adequate supervision must be provided.
  • Safety is the primary concern and the driver has the right to refuse anyone from riding for safety reasons.

Purpose

To allow priority access for visitors with mobility difficulties or disabilities which may cause agitation or distress if they have to queue for a long time.

Statement on Safety for Disabled People

Drusillas Park is a member of the British Association of Leisure, Piers and Parks (BALPPA) and welcomes visits by disabled people and will do all that is possible to ensure a safe and pleasurable stay. However, certain rides and attractions at Drusillas Park can be physically demanding. We, therefore, reserve the right to refuse admission to certain rides should we feel there is a danger to a particular individual for whatever reason.

BALPPA has been advised by the health and safety executive that refusal on the grounds of safety does not constitute discrimination. Drusillas hopes this is understood and that guests can accept the decision made in the interest of the safety of all.
