These are the current vacancies we have available, we'd love to hear from you!

We look to engage staff on a casual basis to work throughout our busy periods; primarily weekends, bank holidays and school holidays with the possibility of some additional work mid-week through the summer months. Team Assistants help out in either retail, catering, admissions or attractions operation. None of these roles have any involvement with the animals.

  • The current minimum age for Casual Team Assistant applicants is 18.
  • The starting rates of pay per hour are:
    • £10.00 for 18-20 year olds
    • £12.21 for those 21 years and over

Join Our Team as an Intern Zookeeper Assistant – 2025-2026 Placement Opportunities

Are you passionate about wildlife and eager to gain hands-on experience in a dynamic zoo environment? At Drusillas we are looking for motivated and dedicated placement students to join our team as an Intern Zookeeper Assistant for the 2025-2026 period. Please note this placement is unpaid.

Drusillas is home to nearly 90 species, and we are committed to enhancing the welfare of animals in human care, with a strong focus on conservation, research, and education. At Drusillas, we recognise the value of real-world experience in shaping future careers, and we are dedicated to providing you with the opportunity to grow and develop in a meaningful way within the field of animal care.

This is a fantastic hands-on opportunity requiring a commitment of 3–5 days per week as an unpaid intern working alongside experienced professionals, gaining invaluable skills, and contributing to the well-being of wildlife while supporting our mission of conservation and education.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with daily animal care routines
  • Support the maintenance of animal enclosures and habitats
  • Contribute to enrichment and training programs
  • Learn about animal health, nutrition, and behavioural management

What We’re Looking For:

  • A genuine passion for animals and conservation
  • A strong interest in pursuing a career in animal husbandry
  • A strong work ethic, reliability, and excellent teamwork skills
  • Previous experience or relevant studies in animal care (preferred but not required)
