Drusillas Hands Over Cheque to Charity of the Year, Rockinghorse
Drusillas Park is pleased to announce that they raised over £1,200 for their 2018 Charity of the Year, Rockinghorse Children’s Charity.
Drusillas handed over a cheque for the sum of £1,206 to Rockinghorse, which represented the sum of donations raised by the Park over the course of last year.
Based in the South East of England, Rockinghorse Children’s Charity aims to improve the lives of sick children throughout Sussex. They are the official fundraising arm of the Royal Alexandra Children’s Hospital, where they raise money for life-saving and cutting-edge medical equipment, whilst ensuring that children are treated in an environment better suited to their needs.
Rockinghorse also supports the Trevor Mann Baby Unit in Brighton, the Special Care Baby Unit based at the Princess Royal Hospital in Haywards Heath and other paediatric services and respite centres throughout Sussex.
Working in partnership with these services, Rockinghorse strives to make them stimulating, cutting edge and accessible for the many babies, children and teenagers who need them.
Hollie Trezise, Schools and Community Fundraising Manager at Rockinghorse, said: “Our partnership with Drusillas Park throughout 2018 has been great. The total that was raised during the year was a real boost to our funds and we’d like to thank all of their generous visitors for their support.”
“We enjoyed a fantastic day at the Park in the summer with some of the families that we care for in East Sussex. Many of our families can’t afford special days out so it was lovely for them to enjoy a day at Drusillas. We are trying to raise the profile of our charity across the county as we know that there are many more families that we could be helping. Drusillas has been fantastic at raising awareness of our work, for which we are extremely grateful.”
Throughout the year Rockinghorse had an ongoing presence at Drusillas, with a static display and collecting tins in the retail outlets. Mulan the red panda was also chosen by the charity as their supporting animal; with 20% of Mulan’s adoption proceeds being donated to the charity.
Director, Cassie Poland commented: “We were delighted to have worked with Rockinghorse during 2018.”
“Drusillas Park is enjoyed by many young families and it is therefore very important to us that our Charity of the Year is dedicated to the welfare of children. Rockinghorse is an excellent charity and we really enjoyed working closely with them to support the fantastic work they do.”
Each year, Drusillas Park supports a cause dedicated to the welfare of children. For 2019, Drusillas has chosen Children with Cancer Fund as their official Charity of the Year and they are already providing them with the same support offered to Rockinghorse.
